Mōri Terumoto
“The Councillor of Aki”
Motonari's grandson and heir, he succeeded young and ruled the Chūgoku region supported by his uncles Kikkawa Motoharu and Kobayakawa Takakage, the "Two Rivers." He fought hard against the Oda and Hashiba western campaign, but made peace with Hideyoshi after Honnō-ji and became one of the Five Elders of the Toyotomi regime. At Sekigahara he entered Osaka Castle as commander-in-chief of the Western Army but never moved his troops, and the Western Army was defeated. After the war he lost most of his lands, including Aki, and was reduced to Suō and Nagato: the foundation of the later Chōshū domain.

Life
- Genki 2 Succession Became head of the Mōri on the death of his grandfather Motonari.
- Tenshō 10 Peace with Hideyoshi Took the news of Honnō-ji as the occasion to end the war with the Oda in the Chūgoku region and make peace.
- Tenshō 17 Building Hiroshima Built Hiroshima Castle at the mouth of the Ōta River as his new seat.
- Keichō 5 Sekigahara and Reduction Set up as Western commander-in-chief in Osaka Castle, he never moved, and after the defeat was reduced to Suō and Nagato.
- Kan'ei 2 Death at Hagi Laid the foundation of the Chōshū domain and died at Hagi.
