“Champion of Northern Shinano”
A fierce commander with power in northern Shinano, one of the few to inflict two major defeats on Takeda Shingen, at Uedahara and the "collapse at Toishi." But his retainers were prised away by intrigue, and driven at last from his castle he turned to Uesugi Kenshin of Echigo. His appeal for help was the direct cause of the five battles of Kawanakajima.
