Niwa Nagahide
“Rice Gorōza / One of the Four Oda Elders”
Nobunaga's right arm, an elder who carried weight both in war and in administration and construction. He was relied on as "Rice Gorōza," as indispensable as daily rice. He served as chief commissioner for the building of Azuchi Castle, where his skill was outstanding. After Honnō-ji he joined Hideyoshi at Yamazaki and Shizugatake and acted as mediator within the Oda house, but died of illness soon after.

- Tenshō 4 Building Azuchi Castle Served as chief commissioner for Nobunaga's construction of Azuchi Castle.
- Tenshō 10 Battle of Yamazaki After Honnō-ji he sided with Hideyoshi and joined the campaign against Mitsuhide.
- Tenshō 11 Shizugatake Fought Katsuie on Hideyoshi's side and was rewarded with Echizen.
