Second son of Miyoshi Jikkyū (Yoshikata), who was the younger brother of the great Miyoshi Nagayoshi. When his uncle Sogō Kazumasa died suddenly he was adopted as his heir and succeeded to the Sogō house of Sanuki. After his elder brother Miyoshi Nagaharu met a violent end he entered Shōzui Castle in Awa and worked to restore Miyoshi power, but he clashed fiercely with Chōsokabe Motochika, who was conquering Shikoku, and in Tenshō 10 was heavily defeated at the battle of Nakatomigawa and fell back to Sanuki. He kept up the fight from Toramaru and Sogō castles but could not hold out, and turned to Hashiba Hideyoshi. After the invasion of Shikoku in Tenshō 13 he was given 30,000 koku at Sogō in Sanuki as a daimyo attached to Sengoku Hidehisa. The following year he joined the vanguard of the Kyushu campaign and crossed to Bungo alongside his old enemy Chōsokabe Motochika, but at the Hetsugi River he ran into Shimazu Iehisa's ambush and was killed.
