Uesugi Norimasa
Head of the Yamanouchi Uesugi, the great family that held the hereditary office of Kantō kanrei. Joining forces with Uesugi Tomosada of the Ōgigayatsu and the Koga kubō Ashikaga Haruuji, he raised a great army and besieged the Hōjō castle of Kawagoe, but in the night battle of Kawagoe in Tenbun 15 Hōjō Ujiyasu's surprise attack routed him and he suffered a crushing defeat. Pressed thereafter by the Hōjō offensive, he lost even his seat at Hirai Castle and was driven from Kōzuke. With nowhere else to turn, Norimasa fled to Nagao Kagetora (the future Uesugi Kenshin) of Echigo, and in Eiroku 4 at the Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine in Kamakura he passed the Uesugi name and the office of Kantō kanrei to Kagetora. He lived his last years under Kenshin, but after Kenshin's death he was caught up in the succession struggle, the Otate war, and lost his life.

Life
- Tenbun 15 Crushing Defeat at Kawagoe Led the allied army in the siege of Kawagoe Castle, but was routed and crushed by Hōjō Ujiyasu's night attack.
- Tenbun 21 Exile to Echigo Pressed by the Hōjō, he lost Hirai Castle and fled to Nagao Kagetora of Echigo.
- Eiroku 4 Passing On the Uesugi Name At the Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine he passed the Uesugi surname and the office of Kantō kanrei to Nagao Kagetora, who took the name Uesugi Masatora (later Kenshin).
- Tenshō 7 Death in the Otate War Caught up in the succession struggle after Kenshin's death, he lost his life in Echigo.
