“Fierce Warrior of Echigo”
A veteran of the Uesugi (Nagao) house and the fiercest warrior under Kenshin, called "the finest fighter in the seven districts of Echigo." At the Fourth Battle of Kawanakajima he led the vanguard and cut into the Takeda headquarters with the wheel formation. He was also the core of the Uesugi at Tedorigawa. Accounts of his death vary; one has it that in his last years he was suspected of treachery and executed.
