Kikkawa Motoharu
“One of the Mōri "Two Rivers"”
Second son of Mōri Motonari, who inherited the Kikkawa house and, with his brother Takakage, supported the main line as one of the "Two Rivers." Entrusted with the San'in front for his valour, he won the siege of Gassan-Toda and the deadly struggle with the Amago restoration army. He also fought at Itsukushima beside his father. He resisted Hideyoshi's western campaign and died of illness in camp during the Kyushu expedition. A man of letters too, he copied out the Taiheiki in his own hand.
