Miyabe Keijun

An unusual commander who rose from a warrior monk of Mount Hiei, served the Azai and then Hashiba Hideyoshi. He distinguished himself in the western campaign and was entrusted with Tottori Castle in Inaba. In the Kyushu campaign of Tenshō 15 he served in Toyotomi Hidenaga's Hyūga army and was given charge of the key fort at Nejirozaka. Against the night attack in which Shimazu Yoshihiro and Iehisa specialised he did not yield a step, pouring in volley after volley, and decided the Toyotomi victory and the Shimazu surrender. He shaved his head and took the title Hōin.
