Nabeshima Naoshige
“Administrator of Hizen”
Brother-in-law and chief retainer of Ryūzōji Takanobu. Combining valour and statecraft, he supported the expansion of the Ryūzōji. When Takanobu was killed at Okitanawate he steadied the shaken house, made peace with the Shimazu and preserved Hizen. In time he took real power in place of his lords, and in the day of his son Katsushige the Saga Nabeshima domain was established. "The renewal of Hizen begins with Naoshige," it is said.
