Obu Toramasa

“The Fierce Tiger of Kai / Founder of the Red Devils”

A Takeda elder who served two generations, Nobutora and Shingen, and was called "the fierce tiger of Kai" for his valour. He led the elite "red devils," uniformed in vermilion, who were feared on the battlefield; they became the source of the Takeda red armour that passed from his brother Yamagata Masakage to the Ii. But as tutor to Shingen's heir Yoshinobu he was implicated in the Yoshinobu plot and took his own life.
