Sakakibara Yasumasa
“One of Tokugawa's Four Guardians”
He served Ieyasu as a page, saw his first action in the Mikawa Ikkō uprising and thereafter led the vanguard in battle after battle as one of the Four Guardians. He is known for his banner bearing the single character "nothing." At Komaki and Nagakute he circulated a proclamation attacking Hideyoshi's lowly birth and enraged him, but after the peace Hideyoshi is said to have praised his prowess. Under the Tokugawa he held Tatebayashi in Kōzuke, 100,000 koku.
