Takeda Nobushige
“Tenkyū / Second-in-Command of the Takeda”
Shingen's full brother. Their father Nobutora favoured the younger Nobushige, but he deferred to his elder brother, devoted himself to the role of second-in-command and won the trust of the whole Takeda house. His "Nobushige precepts," written for his son, became a model for later ages. At the Fourth Battle of Kawanakajima, when the Uesugi closed on the headquarters, he stood his ground in the enemy's midst to protect his brother and died a heroic death. His loss was long lamented by the Takeda.

- Eiroku 1 The Nobushige Precepts Left his son a code of ninety-nine articles.
- Eiroku 4 Death at Kawanakajima Defended the headquarters at the Fourth Battle of Kawanakajima and died a heroic death.
