Tōdō Takatora
“Master Castle-Builder”
Rising from a provincial samurai of Ōmi, he served the Azai, Hashiba Hidenaga and the Toyotomi in turn, distinguishing himself by his feats of arms and his castle-building. Uwajima, Imabari, Tsu and Iga Ueno are among his famous castles. At Sekigahara he sided early with Ieyasu and, though an outside lord, was trusted like a hereditary vassal.

Life
- Tenshō 4 In the service of Hidenaga Served Hashiba Hidenaga and was valued in campaigns and castle works across the country.
- Keichō 5 Sekigahara Fought hard on the Eastern side and secured Ieyasu's trust.
- Keichō 13 To Tsu in Ise Enfeoffed in Ise and Iga, he rebuilt Tsu Castle on a grand scale.
- Keichō 20 Siege of Osaka Fought fiercely on the Tokugawa side against the Osaka forces and remained a major figure for years.
