Minamoto no Noriyori
“The Kaba Kanja”
Sixth son of Minamoto no Yoshitomo, younger brother of Yoritomo and elder brother of Yoshitsune. In the Genpei War he led the great main army as commander-in-chief and supported Yoshitsune's spectacular surprise attacks from behind. Before Dan-no-ura, after an arduous expedition, he crossed to Kyushu and carried out the vital task of cutting off the Taira retreat. But after the war Yoritomo suspected him of treason, and he is said to have been exiled to Izu and met a violent end.

Life
- Genryaku 1 The Main Attack at Ichi-no-Tani While Yoshitsune took the flanking force, he led the main army against the Taira front.
- Genryaku 2 Crossing to Kyushu Short of supplies and ships, he crossed to Bungo and cut the Taira off from behind.
- Kenkyū 4 Vanishing in Izu Suspected of treason by Yoritomo, he is said to have been confined at Shuzen-ji and died there.
