Guan Yu
“Lord of the Beautiful Beard / Saint of War”
A hero who swore brotherhood with Liu Bei and Zhang Fei in the Peach Garden and kept faith all his life. Even when he briefly served Cao Cao, he repaid the kindness by cutting down Yan Liang and then returned to Liu Bei. After Red Cliffs he was entrusted with guarding Jing Province, but while attacking Fancheng he was betrayed by Wu, driven to Maicheng and killed. He is still fervently worshipped as Guandi, the saint of war.
