Zhou Yu
“The Handsome Zhou”
As sworn friend of Sun Ce he helped pacify Jiangdong, and after Sun Ce's death he supported the young Sun Quan as Wu's grand commander. At Red Cliffs he argued for all-out resistance, led the alliance and destroyed Cao Cao's great army with Huang Gai's fire attack. A handsome man skilled in music, of whom it was said, "If there is a wrong note, Master Zhou will turn his head." He died of illness on campaign, still cherishing his plan to divide the empire in two.
