Wei Yan
“The Rebellious General”
A brave commander who rose in Liu Bei's conquest of Shu and was entrusted with the key post of governor of Hanzhong. In the northern expeditions he proposed the "Ziwu plan," a surprise attack on Chang'an, but the cautious Zhuge Liang rejected it. After Liang's death he quarrelled with Yang Yi over the succession, was suspected of treason and killed. His courage and his reputation as a "rebel" are still recounted.

Life
- Jian'an 24 Governor of Hanzhong Promoted by Liu Bei and entrusted with the defence of the key region of Hanzhong.
- Jianxing 6 The Ziwu Plan Urged a surprise attack on Chang'an, but was overruled by Zhuge Liang.
- Jianxing 12 After the Wuzhang Plains After Zhuge Liang's death he lost his quarrel with Yang Yi and was killed.
