A kinsman and senior retainer who followed Cao Cao from the very start. He lost his left eye to a stray arrow fighting Lü Bu's forces but stayed on the battlefield undaunted. Devoted not only to war but to military farms and flood control, he was known for his integrity. As the general Cao Cao trusted most, he was given the highest rank in Wei.
